Christmas Village

Yeah, I'm not done talking about Christmas just yet.  I still have my village set on display.  I put most of the pieces on a 4 tiered shelf and the set below on the buffet.  I love my Christmas Village pieces and discovered this year that I do not have to group all of it together and can instead break up the scenes I want to create.  Below is the Greenhouse and Christmas Tree farm.

Below is the Bridal Boutique and Apartment building which is on the bottom of the corner shelf.

Up from that is the Bakery and Toy store.  I had so much fun putting all of this together!

On the top of the corner shelf is the Kellerman's House. 

I suppose I'll take down all of my village pieces in a week or so.  I'm just about done with winter although I doubt winter is done with us.  I'd like to have one more good snow and then I'll be looking out for my early spring flowers to come up.  We seem to have gotten either ice or a dusting of snow during each weather event this season and I just want some real snow....several inches of it!

I'm ready to spend my evenings outdoors planting flowers, tending to my herb garden and bird watching. 

New Year's Eve 2013

I really did a horrible job of taking pictures at the New Year's Eve party this year.  Most of these are some I stole off of Facebook.  I had my camera but was busy singing, playing some horse race game that I was too tipsy to understand, and socializing to remember to snap very many pictures.  The first two pictures below are the only ones I took.  Lol!

Darrell's party was smallish this year but we all had a really good time!  The night just seemed to fly by and before I knew it we were getting stopped at a sobriety checkpoint on the bypass.  Our friend took us home so we had no worries when we were stopped. Timmy, our friend, doesn't drink at all so we were safe as could be going home.  We always take cab fare and the # for the local taxi company when we know we are both going to enjoy some spirits at these parties so never fear about us ever driving under the influence. 

So now we're in a new year!  So far, so good although returning to work was difficult last week.  It was nice just having to work a couple days and then have the weekend off though.   We've been anxiously awaiting the 5-8 inches of snow they've been predicting for the past week and still, as of right now, we've only had rain today and it is currently 40 degrees so rain is all we'll probably get.  I cancelled all of my home visits tomorrow thinking I'd be snowed in.  Oh well.

*on a disappointing note-- I took pictures on my new camera at Dad and Susan's and The Fisher's/Stone's on Christmas day, however, when I transferred pictures today they were no where to be found.  I'm not sure what happened. I also had video of our newest family  member, Luke, so that is gone too.  I'm sorry!

Happy New Year!!

I'm trying to figure out what to do with my blog these days.  I'm going to keep blogging but may try to do a scheduled thing more often.  Seems like everyone who reads this is also on Facebook with me although I do not divulge as much on FB like I do on here and I cannot write several paragraphs on FB either.  I know I'm slow to upload photos on here too.  I'm going to get some kind of game plan and try to make 2014 a better blogging year than 2013 was.

With all that said, Happy New Year to you!  2013 was a year of celebrations and changes for our family at this old house.  Celebrating Robbie graduating from high school was the highlight of last year with our trip to New York City in the spring and his graduation ceremony and party after the end of his senior year.  We spent some time at the end of the summer preparing for college and all that goes along with that.  College went well as far as I can tell although Robbie is ready to move out and become more independent.  That is the goal right now and all involved are working towards this!

Bob and I have adjusted to Robbie being in college and have enjoyed the freedom of not being chained to the school corporation schedule for the first time in 13 years. I used this opportunity to take a vacation with friends for the first time ever. It was lovely and plans are in the works to make a return trip again later this year with the same group.

We spent the holidays with family and friends and had a great time.  I think this holiday season was one of the best we've had in a few years.  I was actually sorry to see it end and half of me wanted to keep Christmas decorations up for a week or two longer.  I loved our trees and would sit staring at the tree lights during some quiet times at home.  I especially think the early snow put everyone in the Christmas spirit this year.  Hoping for a few more snowfalls before spring arrives.

So there you go.  I won't recap the entire year as my story of 2013 is already documented in the archives on here.  We are now looking ahead to some exciting events for 2014 including a little birthday party for mom later this month, the Superbowl and the Winter Olympics.  After that is the Oscar's party, a peek at early spring flowers and hopefully more time with our friends and family before Bob and I return to Yellowstone this summer.
