Family Cookout

We are not having our Quesadilla Party this year because of vacations, soccer, etc. but we wanted to at least have our family and close friends over for a cookout.  While not everyone was able to make it we had a good time with those who were available to come over for a few hours of relaxation and good food!

              the food spread

homemade salsa with fresh herbs from my garden
devilled eggs with fresh dill (from my garden, of course)
Let's see, we had the meat, baked beans a la Henning, hashbrown casserole, sweet n sour coleslaw, devilled eggs, pasta salad, chocolate chip cookies, Butterfinger pie (OMG--it is so good!) and Darrell made homemade lemon poundcake and brought a bowl of fresh berries and drizzed Lemoncello over it then topped with Cool Whip.  Sigh.  It was delish!

So about that Butterfinger Pie though....I found the recipe on a blog then linked it to Pinterest.com.  The recipe is so easy a 4 year old could make it.  Ready?  Here it is:  7 full sized Butterfinger candy bars (crushed), 8 oz. cream cheese (room temperature), 1 regular sized Cool Whip, 1 graham cracker pie crust.  Whip up the cream cheese to help soften it, add the crushed up candy bars, then fold in the Cool Whip.  Pour into pie crust and refrigerate.  That's it!!  I'm thinking this would also be good using Heath Bars or Oreo cookies....oh, the possibilities.

Anyway, we missed those of you who could not attend but we'll do it again sometime.
